Need dog training?

These days, it’s hard to find! and one reason is that you’re flooded with information.

Jump on social media and you will see dogs like the below.

Now as much as we love seeing and training the high end, exact precision, super-fast responses and let’s not forget the bite work, this is not what 99.9% of dog owners need, actually want nor have the dog or time to achieve it.

Some people think that if a trainer can train that level of dog, they surely can train yours.

Well… not always.

In fact, not often.

Trainers get high drive dogs such as Malinois because they are very easy to motivate.

I have owned them, bred them, still own one, and train many.

But your dog may not be a Malinois and your goals will surely be different if it is not.

Most people, who just have an average dog, want their dog to be part of their lives.

To chill at a cafe, to come to the kids’ sports games, to enjoy a walk without insane pulling, to get along with friends’ dogs, to be good company, to be affectionate and be nice to them.

So, know that the training techniques that develop drive, teach a dog to activate you, teach the dog to be proactive and push you to reward them, will not achieve your goals.

For the last three decades I have taught many people my Training in drive system.

A system that can be used to switch on a dog’s drive and maximise the dogs focus, performance and drive.

And I still do.

BUT, ONLY when it is going to help the dog and owner achieve their goals.

You will see that my performance team, Team K9Pro are on our Facebook page every week, winning in many dog sports around the country..

These dogs and handlers are all training in my training in drive performance system.

I love this style of training, I have been developing this system for 30 plus years and once a person learns the system, they say it’s hard to find better, IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR PERFORMANCE, this is for you.

What you need to know is, this doesn’t suit all dogs or owners.

On the other hand, my Life Skills program is what I designed to teach everyday, ordinary dogs, how to behave and feel comfortable in the owners daily life.

Everything from the cues, reinforcers and rewards are different to the performance program.

Each exercise criteria is different too.

Now the cool thing is that …

If you want to, and have the dog, you can have both.

You can switch on drive and power or switch on calm with my system.

So, if you need help, and you’re going to ask the experts at Google, Facebook or Instagram, here are some tips to help you.

Goals

What are yours, these are things you need to decide. Not anyone else.

Your dog

What sort of dog do you have? Trying to force your dog into a cool training program will just highlight what your dog can’t do.

Finding help

Find a Professional Dog Trainer that can show proof they have trained dogs like yours to achieve goals like yours. Video proof.

Avoid people with some “religious conviction” to an ideology.

Find people who are driven to help you and your dog.

Just like everything else, there are scammers in the dog training field too, and I have met many people who have been scammed.

In the last month I have spoken to half a dozen people that told me their last trainer told them “they train like me”.

I never trained those who said it so no they don’t.

Just think about what you need and want.

Don’t get carried away by flashy 2 second videos and promises that will never come true.

Find a trainer that trains dogs, not talks to cameras.

I’m tired of sitting opposite genuine people who have gone down a rabbit hole in training that was never going to meet their needs or solve their problems.

They take their average dog, that they love, to work with the social media super star.

Training begins they are doing lessons every week $$$$

Their dog never really is able to hit the marks.

But never fear, the trainer knows a person who breeds dogs that can.

Now you are replacing, the dog you love, the dog you brought to be trained, for a high powered dog that will take much more training, gear and time $$$$$

This may sound familiar, because it happens to many.

My best advice – Make wise choices

Remember…

This started with the dog you have, the dog you love.

Work on making that work for you.

Whilst some dogs and owners will never fit, most will find solid ground.
